CNN fact check of debate (w/ poll)

A quick diary on CNN’s quick analysis of some of the disputed assertions in the debate on questions of fact.

Here is a summary of issues analyzed and CNN verdicts; please go to the CNN story for fuller context.

1) Clinton claimed Trump "thinks that climate change is a hoax...”

CNN verdict: true.

2) Clinton said her plan would create 10 million jobs, Trumps would lose 3.4 million.

CNN verdict: true, but misleading.  The two numbers are for different time frames, and disregard baseline job growth.

3) TPP: Trump said Clinton called it “the gold standard” and would approve it if elected.

CNN verdict: “gold standard” true, “approve as President” false. 

4) Clinton said Trump “started his business with $14 million borrowed from his father”

CNN verdict: true. 

5) Clinton said Trump proposed to negotiate down the national debt. Trump interrupted to say “wrong.”

CNN verdict: true.
